About

Brokeback Play is an arts, theatre and culture blog concentrating mainly on reviews. It was launched in 2014 and is owned and operated by Evelyn Strahan.

I work with PR companies and theatre practitioners to showcase the best of what’s happening on stage in New York City and in digital format anywhere in the world. This includes material intended for cinema, online or television release, and books related to theatre, music and film.

From 2020 I will no longer be reviewing productions I have purchased tickets for, although I will still share my thoughts on these on my social media accounts. This is to allow me to concentrate on promoting shows and companies who have requested my time and opinion, and also to reduce operating costs on the blog.

Brokeback Play receives no income from its operation and operates on a voluntary basis. If you would like to support my technical costs to keep this blog running, please consider making a donation.

I am a solo reviewer so I am limited as to the number of shows I can cover (impossible to be in two places at once). However my main aim is to support as many venues as possible where I have a PR relationship, and where it is practical to travel within a reasonable timeframe. At present I do not cover live shows taking place outside of New York City.

I am happy to cover digital shows from any country either on demand or in livestream where time zones permit.

Interview and feature approaches are also welcome, particularly for shows I am unable to come and review. My main theatre interests are fringe, female-led, queer, classics, new writing, and musicals.
